Uber introduces 5-star safety standard for all cars

Uber Australia announced that all new cars signed up after 1 October 2019 will need to have a 5-star ANCAP safety rating (Australasian New Car Assessment Program).

This is a great win for passengers who will have the benefit of riding in 5-star safety-rated car. But how will this affect your work as a driver?

Here’s what you need to know

    • Drivers signing up to Uber from October 2019 will need to have a car that is less than 10 years old and has a 5-star ANCAP safety rating
    • Uber Black, Uber Lux and Uber SUV cars must be less than 7 years old at the moment of signing up
    • Drivers already signed up to Uber should switch to a 5-star-rated car – this way by October 2021 the entire Uber fleet will be 5-star ANCAP rated

The safety of our members and passengers is our number-one priority at Splend, so we always select the safest models for our fleet. All cars available on our Rent and Rent to own plans have a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

If you need a new-model, 5-star ANCAP rated car for on-demand driving,
you can get one on our on our Rent and Rent to own plans without a credit check.
