    General Information

    What documents do I need?

    To sign up you’ll need a copy of your driver’s licence with your current address or change of address sticker, your passport/birth certificate or citizenship certificate, and your driving history issued by your state road and transport authority.

    Do I need good credit history to join Splend?

    We do conduct appropriate credit and background checks to ensure we are acting responsibly, so your credit history may be considered in your application. We will actively help you build a positive credit history by reporting on-time payments to relevant credit reporters.

    How long does it take to get a vehicle?

    If you are approved for Uber and have the required documents, we can on-board you into a brand new Splend car the same day you apply!

    If you are NOT already approved for Uber, you will need to need to apply with Uber before you can sign-up with Splend. Click here to sign up with Uber.

    Where is Splend available?

    We operate in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Newcastle and Sunshine Coast.

    Am I allowed to use my Splend vehicle for personal use?

    Please do! The car is yours to use 24/7 predominantly for business purposes and of course incidental personal use.

    Can my friend/partner/relative drive the vehicle?

    Subject to approval, you can nominate a second driver to use the vehicle for incidental personal use, however only one driver may use the vehicle for UberX.

    Referral bonus information

    By referring a new Splend Member to a Rent plan, you will receive a $100 upfront payment, paid within two weeks. Then after three months, if you and your friend are still Splend Members you’ll receive an additional $150 payment.

    By referring a new Splend Member to a Rent-to-Own plan, you will receive a $100 upfront payment, paid within two weeks. Then after three months, if you and your friend are still Splend Members you’ll receive an additional $150 payment. After six months, if you and your friend are still Splend Members you’ll receive an additional $200 payment.

    Insurance Information

    Am I insured?

    The insurance policy covers the liability of you and your passengers from the use of the vehicle. It also provides comprehensive vehicle cover for most day-to-day driving, including using the vehicle for business use. Most importantly this includes using the vehicle for UberX or UberSELECT (Queensland).

    Please note: Insurance coverage is specified in your rental agreement and only valid if you adhere to the conditions.

    Is there any excess?

    There is $1000 excess if you’re at fault in an accident ($1500 if you’re under 25). In cases where you aren’t at fault, a $1000 ($1500 if you’re under 25) bond is taken and then returned once the claim has been deemed a third party claim and we have recovered from the third party at fault for the repairs to the vehicle.

    What happens if I’m in an accident?

    Ensure that everyone involved is safe. If there are any serious injuries, call an ambulance on 000. After you have attended to all medical issues, please ring 1800 SPLEND and ask for the Accidents department. You will need to report the accident in the Splend Member App.

    Do Splend Members get special discounts?

    Yes! Just by being a Splend Member, you can access a growing list of suppliers at discounted prices. These include:

    Petrol

    Receive 6 cents off per litre on fuel purchases at BP service stations when you sign up to an exclusive Splend Member WEX Motorpass account.

    In addition to the BP fuel discount, you will get a weekly $200 credit limit on your WEX Motorpass card that can be used at over 90% of service stations Australia wide. Your Splend Member WEX Motorpass account will be debited weekly after you receive your payment from Uber.

    All your fuel and car wash purchases will be tracked on a single statement, meaning no more lost receipts come tax time.

    Car washes

    Enjoy discounted car washes at both Magic Hand Carwash and IMO Car Wash. Splend Members receive up to a 33% discount on washes, ensuring your car is sparkling clean and maximising those 5-star ratings.

    Health

    Enjoy reduced corporate pricing compared to equivalent levels of cover in the HCF retail range. The usual 2 & 6 month waiting periods will be waived for extras such as dental, optical, physio & more.

    Receive a 20% discount with DriveTax, a specialist accountant for Uber drivers. Splend Members also receive free GST and ABN registration with DriveTax.

    General Information

    What are the requirements for Splend Rent?

    1. You must be at least 25 years old
    2. Live within 30km of your capital city CBD
    3. Own a smartphone
    4. Have a current valid Australian Drivers License
    5. Have no criminal record
    6. Have a good driving record. We cannot accept the following:
    • More than three minor offences in the last three years (1-4 demerit points each, not including double demerit periods);
    • Any major offences in the last three years (5+ point offences or suspensions, not including fine defaults/double demerit periods);
    • Any drug or alcohol infractions at any time;
    • Any excessive violations or suspensions, or serious individual offences

    If your driving history does not meet the requirements, you may apply for a Private Hire Vehicle Authority Card from the Government

    Do you take care of servicing?

    As part of the weekly rental fee, we cover all your scheduled and warranty maintenance costs. Scheduled maintenance is required every 15,000km or 12 months and your vehicle will be off the road for up to one day.

    We also provide you with free 24/7 roadside assistance, for things like:

    • Flat or Faulty Battery
    • Emergency Fuel
    • Locked out of car
    • Flat Tyres
    • Towing

    Additionally, all Splend vehicles come with an extensive factory manufacturer’s warranty to cover the cost of most defects.

    However, it’s your responsibility to cover all repairs that are not under warranty, including but not limited to punctures, panel damage, and all other non wear and tear items. If unsure, contact your Splend representative.

    How many km are included?

    Your Splend vehicle comes with a generous 1000 km per week allowance. If you go over the included weekly allowance you’ll pay 10c per km for additional operating and maintenance costs.

    What if I get a flat tyre?

    Flat tyres are not covered by warranty/insurance. Contact roadside assist (1800 SPLEND) and arrange to have the tyre replaced at your cost.

    What if there are small scratches when I return the vehicle?

    We operate in accordance with the AFLA Fair Wear and Tear Guide; wear and tear that is reasonable given the age/kms on your vehicle is acceptable.

    Fee and Payment Information

    How much does it cost?

    Depending on the vehicle you choose, the weekly rental fee starts at $269 (inc GST). This includes 1000km per week. The fee is deducted by direct debit every Wednesday night for the following Monday to Sunday period.

    There is also a one-time membership fee of $275 (inc GST). This fee allows access to Splend Member Benefits but we also use it to conduct background and credit checks, process your application, and deliver your vehicle.

    What does the weekly fee cover?

    In addition to the vehicle rental, the fee covers your insurance, registration, regular servicing and maintenance.

    If I take a rental break, do I need to pay the joining fee again?

    Yes. If you have a break in your rental you will still be required to pay the fee once you commence driving again

    Is there a minimum rental period?

    There is a minimum rental period of 4 weeks plus a 2 week notice period. After this 4 weeks period you can return the vehicle at any time with 2 weeks notice.

    What if I want to return the vehicle within the first four weeks?

    If you change your mind you can return your vehicle within the minimum rental period, however a $1,100 fee applies.

    How do I return my vehicle and are there fees?

    In order to return your vehicle you must give two weeks notice – in writing – to your Splend representative.

    We may need to charge a re-fuelling and/or cleaning fee, if the car isn’t returned with a full tank of fuel and professionally cleaned at the end of your rental period.

    Could my weekly rental fees change?

    Splend’s Rent plans includes an amount for government and insurance charges that are outside our control. If these change, we may need to increase (or decrease!) your weekly rental fees by this amount.

    Splend Rent-to-Own FAQs

    What are the requirements for Splend Rent-to-Own?

    3. Own a smartphone

    Why do I need a minimum on demand experience?

    Given the agreement is over a 4 year period we want to make sure that our members understand and enjoy the on-demand rideshare industry before they join up to the Splend Rent-to-Own plan. If you aren’t quite at this level yet, why not take a Splend Rent plan and we will help you get the experience and rating required to join the Splend Rent-to-Own plan.

    What is included in the ready to ride maintenance pack?

    The ready to ride maintenance pack is designed to provide everything that a normal driver would need over the life of the rental. On top of the brand new vehicle, this includes;

    • 12 replacement tyres
    • 3 front and rear wheel alignments
    • 12 replacement brake pads
    • 12 replacement brake discs
    • 9 replacement windscreen wiper blades
    • 2 replacement sets of replacement headlight globes
    • 1 replacement battery

    Is there a weekly kilometre limit?

    Your weekly rental fee includes 1,000 kilometres per week. If you go over this amount then there is a fee of 10c per kilometre. We hope that the extra kilometres you drive will earn you a lot more than 10c in order to cover this. The good news is that any amount that you pay for excess kilometres are used to contribute to the end of your rental agreement. (to a maximum of a 52 week reduction)

    What if I get a flat tyre?

    Flat tyres are not covered by warranty/insurance or your ready-to-ride maintenance pack. Contact roadside assist (1800 SPLEND) and arrange to have the tyre repaired at your cost.

    Your weekly hire fee includes your brand new vehicle specifically chosen to suit the Rideshare industry with space and comfort for your passengers whilst balancing fuel economy to maximize your earnings.

    It also includes comprehensive insurance that specifically covers rideshare drivers, CTP, government licensing charges for rideshare, roadside assistance, servicing and the ready to ride maintenance pack.

    What happens if I miss a payment?

    If you are unable to make a payment please let us know as soon as possible. We will work with you to try and come up with alternative payment terms. There is a $40 fee for any failed payments.

    Is there a minimum hire period?

    There is a minimum rental period of 6 weeks plus a 2 week notice period. After this 6 week period you can return the vehicle at any time with 2 weeks notice.

    Can I take a break during my rental?

    After the first year you are eligible to a payment holiday at every 12 month anniversary, where you can put your payments on hold for 2 weeks.  This will then increase the length of your rental by the amount of time you put your agreement on hold but is a great way to take a break and have some money in your pocket to relax or travel.

    What if I want to return the vehicle within the first six weeks?

    If you need to return your vehicle within the minimum period you will be required to pay out  the rest of your weekly rental fees up to a minimum of 8 weeks.
