How much does it cost per week?

    SMALL CAR:

    • 2019 Hyundai i30 Go: $269 per week
    • 2019 Hyundai Kona Go: $269 per week

    SUV:

    • 2019 Hyundai Tucson Go: $324 per week

    HYBRID:

    • 2019 Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport Hybrid: $329 per week

When do I make my weekly payment?

Your weekly rental fee is paid one week in advance. All fees are deducted by direct debit every Wednesday night for the following week; Monday to Sunday period.

    Is there a kilometre quota?

Your Rent to own plan comes with a 1,000-kilometre quota included every week or a total of 52,000 kilometres for the year.

If you want to drive over the weekly kilometre quota to increase your rideshare income, there is a small early ownership fee of $0.10 for every kilometre you drive over 1,000 kilometres. Any early ownership fees paid contribute to you owning your car sooner, by bringing forward the finish date of your Rent to own rental contract.

For example, if you drive 1,500 kilometres, you’ll pay an early ownership fee of $50 for that week. That $50 payment contributes towards you owning your car sooner.

For a brand-new car, you can reduce the length of your Rent to own rental agreement by a maximum of 52 weeks, meaning the earliest you can own your car is 156 weeks or 3 years.

For a used car, you can reduce the length of your Rent to own rental agreement by a maximum of 52 weeks, meaning the earliest you can own your car is 104 weeks or 2 years.

What does the weekly fee cover?

    Your weekly rental fee includes:

    • Brand-new or used 5-star ANCAP rated car for improved Uber ratings
    • CTP and rideshare compliant comprehensive insurance for you and your riders
    • Scheduled maintenance
    • Car registration
    • 24×7 car breakdown assistance
    • Replacement car if your car is involved in an accident

It also includes your ready to ride maintenance pack.

What happens if I miss a payment?

If you’re unable to make a payment please let your Member Success Representative know as soon as possible. We’ll work with you to try and come up with alternative payment terms. There is a $40 fee for any failed payments.

    Payment holiday

With the Rent to own plan, you can take a holiday from your weekly rental fee for up to four weeks.

You can’t activate the payment holiday until you’ve been active for 12 months on the Rent to own plan. You can’t activate your holiday payment during your two-week termination notice period.

When you activate your annual payment holiday, simply nominate the amount of time you’ll be away for (up to four weeks). During your payment holiday, you have normal access to your Splend car and you enjoy the same 1,000-km weekly kilometre quota.

By taking a payment holiday, it will increase the length of your rental agreement by the amount of time you put your agreement on hold.

Therefore, if you take a payment holiday of four weeks every year you’re eligible, you would add twelve weeks to the end of your Rent to own rental agreement.

If you take twelve weeks of holiday payments, and your rental agreement runs extend past four years, you’ll be responsible for the full maintenance of the car including insurance, registration, servicing etc.

Are there fees if I choose to return a car?

If you return the car within the first 12 months of your Rent to own plan, there is a $500 return fee.

We may need to charge a re-fuelling and/or cleaning fee if the car isn’t returned with a full tank of fuel and professionally cleaned at the end of your rental period.

If you return the car with damage outside what is deemed acceptable by the AFLA Fair Wear and Tear Guide; wear and tear that is reasonable given your car’s age/mileage, you’ll be charged accordingly.

Is there a minimum rental period?

With the Rent to own plan, there are two minimum rental period options:

    • Option one: 12-week minimum rental period, full joining fee
    • Option two: 26-week minimum rental period, reduced joining fee

What if I want to return the car within the minimum rental period?

If you need to return your car within the minimum rental period, you’ll be required to pay out the weekly rental fee for every week remaining in your minimum rental period.

For example, if you have four weeks remaining until you reach your minimum rental period, you’re required to pay the weekly rental fee for the remaining four weeks.

If you return the car within the first twelve months of your Rent to own plan, there is a $500 return fee.

How do I return my car?

In order to return your car, you must give two-weeks’ notice, in writing, to your Splend Member Success Representative.

    Is there a buyout option?

Once you enter the final twelve months of your Rent to own rental agreement, you may request an early buyout.

To complete your early buyout, you need to pay the weekly rental fee for every week remaining on your Rent to own contact.

For example, if you were paying $299 per week and had 20 weeks remaining on your Rent to own rental contract, your early buyout amount would be: $299 x 20 = $5,980.

You may be eligible for discounts on your early buyout, which is dependent on the maintenance and insurance history of the car you’re in. When you submit a request for an early buyout through your Member Success Representative, Splend will provide you with a quote for the cost of owning your car early.

As previously mentioned, you may also be eligible for early ownership if you’re driving over 1,000 a week, which would reduce the minimum term, by a maximum of twelve months.

There is a $110 early buyout admin fee.

Is there a payment at the end of my contract?

At the completion of your Rent to own contract, a final $1 balloon payment is required. You’ll also need to pay the stamp duty before we can legally change the car ownership into your name.

Please note the stamp duty amount will vary based on the Australian state or territory you live in and the market value of your car at the time of sale. For example, in NSW, you must pay $300 in stamp duty for a car with a value of $10,000.

Could my weekly rental fee change?

Splend’s Rent to own plan includes an amount for government and insurance charges that are outside our control. If these change, we may need to increase (or decrease) your weekly rental fee by this amount.

    Insurance information

    Am I covered?

Please note: full terms for loss or damage cover are specified in your rental agreement and only valid if you adhere to the conditions.

    Is there any excess?
