Laura Cullen – New South Wales
How long have you been with Splend, Laura?
Three and a half years. The time has gone by so fast – time flies when you’re having fun!
What is your background?
I have previously worked in sales for long-established companies. I wanted to move into account management, and at the time was excited to be part of a startup company that was up and growing in Australia. It was the perfect match and an amazing move.
What’s the best part of your day at Splend?
The best part of my day is chatting with some of our very inspirational customers. There are so many people with various backgrounds and various reasons for driving Uber with Splend. The conversations with these people are so encouraging and really inspire us all.
Where might we find you when you’re not at work?
Usually doing something active like the gym or a nice walk on the coast.
What’s your most memorable customer success/onboarding story?
Flexi own onboards are always exciting. A few of my very first customers have been paying their Flexi own car for over 3 years now and will have full ownership over the next few months. We were both new to Splend when they first picked up the car and it’s been great to see their journey. It will be even better to see them finally drive away in their own cars.
What’s the one tip you always like to give your customers?
A favourite tip is to remind customers that Uber is as much a customer service job as it is about driving. It is important to have a clean, fresh-smelling car and to greet riders with a smile.
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Thai food. I could have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day
Abhishek Puri – South Australia
How long have you been with Splend, Abhishek?
Over two and a half years now.
What’s your background?
I have come from the telecommunications industry. I have a Master’s in IT but I’ve always worked in sales and marketing with over nine years of experience. I’m a massive people person and Splend is all about that. The comfort I get knowing that I’ve helped someone else really makes my day. I’ve had customers come back six months later saying I’ve helped them provide bread and butter for the wife and family, and this really motivates me and makes me work even harder.
What’s the best part of your day at Splend?
The best part of my day is setting targets for our state and accomplishing them with my team. I am always excited to share good news.
Where might we find you when you’re not at work?
You’ll find me on a beach by myself, clearing my mind. I like to meditate on the seaside and tend to do this once or twice a week.
What’s your most memorable customer success/onboarding story?
The best customer success story I’ve heard was shared this week at our customer event. One of our SA customers joined us in July 2019 as a refugee working at a chicken factory. He wasn’t happy at all with his working options and he spoke very little English at the time. I helped him get his driver accreditation and paperwork ready for Uber and become an Uber driver. Then, I signed him up with Splend. Together, we set a two-year goal for him to be in a position to buy a house and then be able to bring his family over from overseas. During lunch he shared the amazing news that he’s been able to save up for a house and now has gotten visas for his family to come over.
What’s the one tip you always like to give your customers?
Treat your riders the way you’d want to be treated. Empathy is going to help you achieve a five-star Uber rating. A good example is keeping keep your car tidy – the same way you’re more comfortable in a clean place that smells nice, your passengers will feel the same way about your car.
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Chicken biryani, any time of the day! It’s got everything – chicken, spices, and rice.
